Redding City Council

28 years protecting Redding. Ready to keep serving it.

Mark Mezzano retired from the California Highway Patrol with honors in 2011 after nearly three decades of service, then brought that same public-safety focus to the Redding City Council, where he was first elected in 2020 as the top vote-getter.

Record on the council

What Mark has worked on in office

Fire department staffing

Supported increasing staffing so that fire engines run with three firefighters, and has pushed for a ninth fire station to strengthen coverage and response times across the city.

Police patrol coverage

Supported adding an eighth patrol beat for the Redding Police Department, part of bringing the department to its highest sworn staffing level on record and cutting response times.

Regional transportation and jobs

Serves as chair of the Shasta Regional Transportation Authority and represents Redding on regional and statewide boards, including the League of California Cities.
